Minsk, Belarus (NBC News Channel) - Belarus conducted its National Robotics Competition among schoolchildren and students on Sunday ahead of the World Robot Olympiad in India.
This year's tournament attracted a record number of participants - 150 - a big rise compared to the previous year when only 20 took part. Young engineers aged from six to 25 came to Minsk from all parts of Belarus to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in robotics. The task for each team was to design, build and program robots that look or behave like human athletes. Students competed in robot versions of bowling and football. Every year, numerous teams of young inventors from 55 countries compete in the World Robot Olympiad.
